friends making work

is a design collective and practice of material interests co-founded by Amelyn Ng, Gabriel Vergara, and Christine Giorgio. We make material interventions that span exhibitions, media, and transdisciplinary design, with cumulative backgrounds in architecture, urban design, film, digital media, and illustration. We work on themes of planetary extraction and matter out of place, seeking alternate narratives to the status quo of building. We are based in New York City.

Past projects include DEPAVE: An Ecological Repair of the Ground at the AIANY Center for Architecture (USA), Designing With Dust (TH), D.E.P.O.T. / Gross Domestic Practices  (USA), prácticas domésticas brutas (CL), and Planetary Home Improvement: From Just-in-time to Geological Time (CZ). Currently working on Re-grounding the Archive at the Van Alen Institute (USA).
